Expert of Cybersecurity of Critical Infrastructures

Agustín Valencia Gil-Ortega

Industrial Engineer from ICAI, with additional training in different areas such as Maintenance Management, BWR Nuclear Technology and more recently Director of Security, Master of Computer Security and CISM. With more than 20 years of experience, he has covered all areas of the energy world, from Engineering to Operation and Maintenance in nuclear and combined cycle plants to relevant sectors such as Renewables, Smartgrids or electric vehicles, and participated in working groups of the World Economic Forum.

Since 2011, he is responsible for cybersecurity in the nuclear sector. Leading development of plans and analysis of cybersecurity risks in critical infrastructures in accordance with the PIC Law. Also as Head of Engineering of instrumentation and control and cybersecurity projects, modernizing distributed control platforms and introducing cybersecurity from the design or redesigning network architectures and control systems focused on bastioning, network segmentation, whitelisting and SIEM-IDS on systems of the main manufacturers (GE, Honeywell, Schneider-Electric, etc). Currently, Head of OT Security Business Development at Fortinet.

Additionally, Agustín participates in various activities as a professor at the CCI Professional School, Professor at the Masters Degree of Cybersecurity at the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, Collaborator in ISA99 Committees and Top 20 Secure PLC Coding Practices.
